Poste proposé : Tax Supervisor – Douala

Company Overview
On behalf of our client, a leading player in the international trade and development sector, we are seeking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Tax Supervisor for their dynamic team. Our client is dedicated to fostering growth and creating impactful economic connections, and this role is pivotal to supporting their expanding operations.
Mission of the Role
As a Tax Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading our tax strategy and ensuring full compliance with Cameroonian and international tax regulations. You will play a critical role in optimizing our tax position, managing tax risks, and providing expert guidance to the management team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all corporate tax returns, VAT, withholding taxes, and other statutory declarations.
  • Tax Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax burden and ensure efficiency.
  • Audit Management: Lead and manage tax audits, responding to inquiries from tax authorities and ensuring a smooth and favorable process.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate tax-related risks across the organization.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior members of the finance and accounting team on tax matters.
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert advice on the tax implications of new business initiatives, contracts, and international transactions.
  • Staying Current: Keep abreast of new tax laws and regulations in Cameroon and relevant international jurisdictions, and analyze their impact on the business.

Profil recherché pour le poste : Tax Supervisor – Douala

Profile Sought
Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, DEC, Expert-Comptable) is a strong plus.
  • Min 5 years of proven experience in a tax supervisory role or a similar position with significant tax management responsibilities.
  • Preferred industry background: Extensive experience within a large trading company, a processing plant, or a “Type 4” audit firm (Cabinet de Commissariat aux Comptes de Type 4).
  • In-depth knowledge of the OHADA accounting system and Cameroonian tax code is essential.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bilingualism is essential: Full professional proficiency in both English and French (written and spoken).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proactive, autonomous, and able to thrive in a fast-paced international environment.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
